Audition for Kids in the ACT- New Student Auditions in August!

Come join the fun! We are accepting new students and welcome beginners!
  • Who: Kids ages 8-18
  • When: August 17 or August 24. (Call for an appointment if you cannot attend either of these dates.)
  • Time: Anytime between 10:00am and 12:00noon
  • Where: Liahona Theater located at 2464 W 450 S, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062
  • What: Prepare 16 measures of a Broadway style song or something from a Disney musical. Bring your music tracks on an electric device to sing along with.
  • Shows : Anastasia, JR and Into the Woods, JR (ages 8 to 13) Shows in January and May.
  • Shows: Singin’ in the Rain and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (ages 13 to 18) Shows in February and May.

Please contact Laura Snyder at 801-404-0736 if you need to come at a time other than outlined above or need to arrange another day to audition. We may have several Audition days in order to accommodate everyone desiring to audition!

What to Expect at Auditions

  • SINGINGPlease be prepared to sing 16 measures of a Musical Theater or Disney piece.  (Nothing from Wicked or Hairspray PLEASE!)  Bring your instrumental music tracks on an electronic device to sing along with.  No accompanist will be provided.
  • DANCING-Be prepared to learn dance steps by wearing appropriate footwear.  (No flip-flops or sandals.)  You will be asked to perform the dance steps taught during auditions.
  • ACTING– Some of you may be asked to read lines and do some improvisation.  (Presenting a 1 minute monologue is optional but encouraged.)
  • SPECIAL SKILLS– If you have special skills such as gymnastics or acrobatics, please let us know at auditions.  We would love to see these special talents! 
  • CALL BACKS– Callbacks will be held during class time for students accepted into Kids in the ACT.  If we need you to return for a callback to further determine your eligibility for acceptance in any or our performing groups, you will be notified as to the date and time.  
  • ACCEPTANCE– Everyone auditioning will be notified individually by email as to whether or not they are accepted into the desired performing group.  If your child is accepted, you will be instructed to complete the registration process for your child.  If your child is not accepted at this time, you will receive recommendations as to which classes to enroll your child in to further their opportunity to be accepted in the desired programs during the next audition cycle.

NOTE: If your child is accepted into Kids in the ACT Youth Theater, you will be notified of a Mandatory Parent meeting to further outline class requirements and the upcoming performance schedule.

Mission Statement

Our goal is to promote the arts that will engage the mind, enrich the heart and uplift the spirit. We wish to create a positive and uplifting educational environment where our students can experience, learn, participate, create and perform music, dance and drama.  As we share our passion for the arts we hope to instill and inspire the joy of performing for a lifetime.

By combining theater, music and dance, our Academy curriculum will:

Tuition and Fees

Registration Fees $36
$25 (Family discount for 3rd child with 3 or more children enrolled)

Registration, Payment, Cancellation and Refund Policies

Registration: There is a student registration fee of $32 per student required at time of registration for each term to reserve your class space. (This fee is nonrefundable unless the class is cancelled.)
 
Payment for Classes: In order to secure your child’s placement in class, payment is required at the time of registration for the first month’s tuition.  Tuition is due on the first of every month. You will be charged a $10 Late Fee if tuition is paid after the 10th of the month. Tuition can be paid in the form of cash, check, or credit card. Checks returned to us by the bank will be charged the N.S.F. fees of $30.00.
 
Holidays and missed classes: ACT observes the same holidays as the Alpine School District. The value of lost class days due to holidays or holiday breaks has been considered and is reflected in the monthly tuition amount. There are no additional refunds or credits for missed class days due to holidays. Tuition will not be refunded for missed lessons for any reason. You may contact the studio for make-up lessons if available. If you have extenuating circumstances, please contact the ACT Academy director. 
 
Costume and Production Fees: For the End of Term Production, students will require costumes for their performance. Costume fees will be billed at time of order. Costume fees and Production fees are non-refundable. Costumes will not be handed out until the production fees and costumes fees are paid in full.
 
Cancellation and Refund of Classes:  Notification to withdraw from class must be received in writing by ACT by the 15th of the month in order to stop tuition payment for the following month.  No exceptions. Students withdrawing permanently from class will be refunded any pre-payment of tuition, with the exception of the month in progress. Registration fees, costume fees and production fees are non-refundable.
 
Instructor Illness or Bad Weather Policy: If at any time it is necessary to cancel lessons due to inclement weather or instructor illness, we will notify you by phone or email. There will be NO reduction of tuition for this inconvenience however, cancelled classes will be rescheduled.
 
Discontinuation Policy: The studio reserves the right to cancel the enrollment of a child for the following reasons:
1. Non-payment or excessive late payment of fees.
2. Not observing the rules of the studio.
3. Child has special needs which we cannot adequately meet with our current staff
4. Physical and/or verbal abuse of staff or children, by a parent or child.

Academy Attire Requirements

Appropriate school clothing is suitable for all our classes, provided that clothing is not restrictive and allows for free movement for dance and choreography.  It is highly recommended that students bring dance attire or jazz or sweat pants to change into if clothing is too tight or restrictive and hinders movement. DANCE SHOES ARE REQUIRED for all Kids in the ACT Youth Theater Classes, MDT Classes and Tap Classes.  Instructions on type and color of shoe will be provided within the first two weeks of class.
